A little (ha ha, yeah right) about me, I’m a 40 year old obsessive mum to 3 boys, they’re currently 13, 11 & 8. Married to my long-suffering husband, of 14 years. My primary career was in sales/account management in telecoms/software. Prior to that, one of my first jobs, aged 17, was selling cars at a Honda dealership - loved it!
Pilates is my absolute passion, and I believe every single body can benefit from this incredible method. After suffering with two bulging discs (from holding 3 babies on one hip!) - regular Pilates helped me rehabilitate and maintain my strength for all activities. I practice Pilates, some yoga and enjoy swimming. I stick to low impact exercise as I am hyper-mobile and need to be kind to my joints. Pilates helps to strengthen all the smaller, stabilising muscles, which helps to support my mobile joints. We try and stay active as a family and enjoy cycling and skiing together.
I’m not obsessive about exercise and really don’t believe in “punishing’ yourself for eating certain foods or lack of activity. I truly listen to my body and wouldn’t force myself into a work out. I am ALL about body positivity, celebrating and respecting our miraculous
bodies.
I’m also a cancer survivor, which definitely changes one’s perspective on life. I have a couple of “hangovers” from treatment, but consider myself to be one very lucky lady. Probably one of the reasons I don’t take myself too seriously.
I fell in love with the classical teachings of Joseph Pilates after being taught by my amazing teacher, Marie Stapleton (Pilates body in balance). I was lucky enough to be trained by her trainer Alison Swan (Pilates Matwork) and qualified with YMCA as a level 3 matwork instructor.
I have an interest in teaching Pilates to children and completed a course with APPI and have been teaching sessions at my children’s primary school (for ages 7 to 9). To further my Pilates education I also completed a pre & post natal course with Mamas Pilates. My learning will continue to grow, there are so many amazing teacher trainers out there to be educated by.
